Meet your Board of Directors

  • Amy Christiansen

    PRESIDENT

Amy began swing dancing in 2018 with the Michigan Indiana Social Swing Society, now called Vintage Swing South Bend. She always thought she had two left feet and couldn’t dance but after taking additional instruction that summer, it finally clicked and she quickly fell in love with lindy hop! In 2020, the pandemic forced a break in dancing but then she moved to Indianapolis and started at Naptown Stomp once they reopened in July 2021. Amy travels across the Midwest for dance weekends and looks for opportunities to dance even on personal vacations. She and her husband, Robert, danced in two cities in Spain, Barcelona and Madrid, on their honeymoon! She is slowly learning how to lead and her current favorite dance styles are Balboa and St. Louis Shag. (Photo by Meaghan Jarnecke)

  • Kira Gartell

    TREASURER

Kira went to her first swing dance back in 2000, but didn’t fully commit to her love of Lindy Hop until she joined the Swing Dance Club at Indiana University in 2013. Kira’s first career was as a high school math teacher, and she is currently the Orchestra and Personnel Manager for the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. She is also president of Books for a Better World, traveling to Central America each summer to deliver children’s books to remote schools and libraries. Originally from Tempe, Arizona, Kira has lived in Bloomington, Indiana since 2005, where she lives with her cat Vanta, her dog Lucy, and her favorite dance partner (and also husband) Erik Wennstrom. • Robert Sánchez

    SECRETARY

Robert started his swing dancing journey at Fountain Square Theater’s Friday Swing Night social dances back in 2008, and did not begin taking lessons for over a decade, until his involvement with Naptown Stomp in 2021. Embracing the warmth and inclusivity of the Naptown is driven by his passion for fostering connections and creating memorable experiences for all. His favorite song is “Alright, Okay, You Win“ performed by Joe Williams, which was also his wedding song. A fun fact about Robert is that he is very passionate about cooking and challenges himself to attempt new recipes constantly! His favorite dish to cook is homemade pizza. (Photo by Rebecca Willis)

Sean discovered Lindy Hop at Butler University as a college student. After college was when he truly fell in love with dance as he continued to learn in Wichita, Kansas at the Wichita Swing Dance Society. In 2016, he moved back to Indianapolis and became involved with Naptown Stomp as a member, dance, DJ, instructor, and board member. Sean has danced for 10 years now! He has danced locally, nationally, and abroad. If you see him on the floor, ask him to lead or follow! (Photo by himself)

  • Chloe Latta

    OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Chloe started swing dancing in early 2022 at the Fountain Square dances in Indianapolis. After trying it out a couple times, she jumped head first into the lindy hop community! She has been able to take classes, travel out of state for dancing, and even started a swing dancing club at her university. Chloe couldn’t have been more excited to join the Back Home Again board, and she can’t wait for everyone to see this event come to life! (Photo by Gavin Hensley)
